Chain or belt? Thirty seconds to the right answer.

Two drive types cover every garage. The difference is noise, price, and what's next to your garage.

Chain drive

The proven standard. Powerful, durable, and the better price. The trade-off is noise, which doesn’t matter a bit in a detached garage.

Best for detached garages and heavy doors.

Belt drive

Strong and whisper-quiet. If a bedroom or living room shares a wall or ceiling with the garage, the belt drive keeps the peace at 6 a.m.

Best for attached garages near living spaces.

Safety comes standard

Every install protects what drives in and out.

Photoelectric sensors

The door stops and reverses the instant anything crosses its path. Kids, pets, and bumpers stay safe.

Rolling security codes

Every click of the remote sends a new encrypted code, so it can’t be grabbed and replayed.

myQ monitoring

Left in a hurry? Check the door from anywhere and close it from your phone. Get alerts when it opens.

Opener FAQs

The questions we get every week.

Not sure what your garage needs? Call and describe it. We'll tell you in plain English.

Chain drive or belt drive: which should I get?
Chain drives cost less and lift heavy doors reliably, so they’re great for detached garages. Belt drives run much quieter, which matters when a bedroom or living space sits next to or above the garage. Tell us how your garage is used and we’ll point you to the right one.
What is myQ and do I need it?
myQ is LiftMaster’s smart control system. With built-in Wi-Fi, your opener connects to your phone so you can check whether the door is closed, open it for family or deliveries, and get alerts.
Is battery backup worth it?
If losing power would trap a car you need, yes. Battery backup models open and close the door through an outage. In Pueblo, where summer storms take the power out at the worst times, it’s a popular upgrade.
Can you replace just the opener and keep my current door?
Usually, yes. If the door itself is sound and balanced, a new opener bolts right up. We’ll check the springs and balance first, because a worn door wears out a new opener fast, and tell you honestly what we find.
Are new openers safe for kids and pets?
Yes. Every opener we install has photoelectric safety sensors that stop and reverse the door the moment anything crosses its path, plus secure rolling-code remotes so your code can’t be copied.
